WORLD BIODIVERSITY DAY

47% of the world's surface are covered with drylands. The biodiversity in these areas is under threat by human activities. In total there are 2311 species endangered. For that reason suggestion are going to be worked out for saving these species on that day.

VICOSD RETREAT "SEENSUCHT NACH DEM SALZKAMMERGUT"
22 JUNE - 26 JUNE 2006

As a special service VICOSD is organizing a retreat under the motto "Seensucht nach dem Salzkammergut" from Thursday, 22 June to Sunday, 25 June 2006. For four days participants will have the possibility to relax and get to know this wonderful region of Austria. An extensive program will be provided by the organizers.

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF DESERFICATION 2006

This year the United Nations are observing the International Year of Deserts and Deserfication. Deserfication is one of the most imminent threats for a great number of people and is endangering their livelihoods.

During the EU Presidency Austria would like to draw special attention to this topic.

So does VICOSD, which has become official NGO partner of the Austrian government during this year.
